The UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings is a global initiative that assesses and promotes environmental sustainability in higher education institutions. Its framework evaluates universities through 60 indicators across seven criteria: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, Education and Research, and Governance and Digitalization.

For 2026, the ranking includes 2,016 universities from 110 countries which reflects the growing global participation in the assessment since its inception in 2010, when only 95 universities from 35 countries took part.

With this recognition through its first-ever submission, ISU remains committed to sustainability across its campuses, academic programs, research and extension initiatives, institutional operations, and governance. This further supports the University’s pursuit of a Smart-Green University anchored on sustainable practices and societal transformation.

Congratulations to our University community! May this recognition helps us to advance initiatives that contribute to a greener, smarter, and more sustainable ISU.
