The Isabela State University (ISU) attended the workshop-conference cum mission in Taiwan on Effective Local Governance in Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) from March 12 to 15, 2018.

The workshop-conference was held in cooperation with National Taiwan University (NTU) and National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) and was participated by ISU Board of Regents and University Officials.

The said endeavour aims at benchmarking success stories on effective local governance in DRM, learning and adopting concepts, processes, and experiences of a university-local government community partnership in Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and DRM, and establishing partnership among municipalities and cities of Isabela, Philippines and local government of Taiwan. The mission in Taiwan was also set to encourage Taiwan investors to invest in agribusiness in Isabela, and firm-up sponsorship agreements between ISU, NTU, and NTOU on the conduct of international conference and launching of conference website.

After the workshop-conference, the participants are expected to visit resilient communities, come up with potential investment portfolios in Agribusiness projects, lay out Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NTU and NTOU, and firm-up on the conduct of international conference on CCA-DRM

It is also known that ISU officials visited Taiwan on July 11 to 13, 2017 for MOU signing with the three leading universities which include NTU, NTOU, and National Chiayi University (NCU). The MOU covered students and faculty exchange program, conduct of conferences, scholarships and collaborative research along the areas of fisheries and aquatic, water resource management, agriculture, and DRM.
