Today, Isabela State University (ISU) hosts the official launch of LegisHear: Bawat Batas Mahalaga, a pioneering nationwide legislative consultation and oversight initiative of the Philippine House of Representatives that seeks to bring the legislative process closer to the Filipino people by giving every citizen a greater voice in lawmaking.

As one of only three (3) pilot areas for the initiative, the Isabela stop marks the beginning of the nationwide effort to make the House of Representatives more open, responsive, and people-centered. Following its launch in Isabela, LegisHear will continue its rollout in Iloilo (Visayas) and Butuan City (Mindanao).

The inaugural event was attended by University officials led by Dr. Boyet L. Batang (University President), House leaders led by Hon. Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III (House Speaker), representatives from partner national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, educators, farmers, students, and various sectoral stakeholders.

The program features a town hall meeting, legislative discussions, focus group discussions, and a multi-agency public service caravan which aims to create a platform where citizens can directly share their insights on pending legislative measures, assess the implementation of existing laws and government programs, and contribute to a more participatory and responsive legislative process.

Through initiatives like LegisHear, ISU remains committed to support programs that strengthen civic engagement, participatory governance, and collaboration for nation-building.
