As the world pays tribute to every educator today, Isabela State University adds extra confetti to the celebration as faculty members of the ISU Echague Campus received laptop devices as special gifts!
Around 175 units of laptop were distributed to selected faculty members from the 9 colleges of the campus.
The purchase of the laptop devices was made possible through the Congressional budget insertion introduced by Sen. Pia Cayetano to ISU’s General Appropriations.
Earlier this year, ISU was able to receive a total of Php 1.358 billion through RA 11639 General Appropriations Act (GAA) FY 2022, which has seen a 24.03% increase versus the University’s proposed budget.
The additional funding would support the line items including ISU’s Smart Campus initiative, the newly established ISU College of Medicine, and the increase in carrying capacity of Nursing and Allied Health Programs.
This is also dedicated for the operationalization of limited face-to-face classes, capacity development on Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight, sports and socio-cultural development, Student Assistance Program, and the continuing implementation of Free Higher Education.
University President Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino mentioned that through this budget, the University will also allocate for the purchase of bicycle for students and the establishment of bicycle stations inside the university. The president explained that this is part of the University’s measure towards building climate-resilient community.
Dr. Aquino reiterated his gratitude to Sen. Cayetano and to the House of Senate for the congressional insertion, explaining that this will propel academic services in building ISU’s brand of quality education.
The university president went on to thank the efforts of the faculty members especially in upscaling the academic excellence of the University, reflected in both the licensure performances and the exemplary graduate and alumni profiles.
With this, ISU Echague Executive Dr. Jose P. Gallena expressed that it is just rightful for the faculty to receive such remuneration for their commitment.
“My dear colleagues, I know that teaching hasn’t been so easy for all of us; yet here we are, standing firm in the profession we have chosen to track! As a reward for that, I believe that we deserve all the blessings and rewarding undertakings we have in our lives”, said Dr. Gallena.
Atty. Romano P. Cammayo, ISU Vice President for Admin and Finance, further embarked on the efforts of top management to see through the welfare and best interest of the University’s faculty and staff.
“The administration of President Ricmar is doing its best, kumbaga sa figure of speech ‘we are trying to move heaven and earth’ so that we could provide the best facilities in the university, the best environment for all of us”, exclaimed Atty. Cammayo.
The vice president also lined up what he called as “more blessings” for the faculty members, as another round of institutional promotion is set to roll out just after the NBC 8th Cycle, including the upcoming Collective Negotiations Agreement (CNA) which would mean additional cash incentives.
In response, ISU-Echague Faculty President Dr. Hilda A. Manzolim urged the faculty members to remain committed and passionate to the vision and goals of ISU as way of gratitude for these awards.
“The very reason we’re given those laptops is for us to be efficient in the exercise of our duties, impart knowledge to our students, and contribute to the improvement of our university”, said Dr. Manzolim.
The distribution of laptop devices prioritized faculty members who have not yet received any issued devices and MRs (memorandum receipts) from the university. (GZ/BJC/JF-UMIS-CMS)
