The University Knowledge and Technology Management Office spearheaded the university-wide Soft Launch of the UKTM Research Knowledge Repository and Intellectual Property Management System on November 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM via Zoom. The activity aims to introduce IP Safe as a newly developed platform designed to streamline the documentation, archiving, and management of intellectual property (IP) assets across all campuses of Isabela State University (ISU). Through the UKTM’s partnership with the College of Computing Science and Information and Communication Technology (CCSICT), BSIT students (Haniel Jezraye V. Nolasco, Khent Aaron A. Abergas, and Eli Miguel A. Depra), through the guidance of their adviser (Mr. Jenefer P. Bermusa), were able to develop the aforementioned system as the focus of their capstone project.

The initiative addresses two persistent gaps that the UKTM Office seeks to resolve: the maintenance of an adequate and unified record of all intellectual properties registered under the name of the University, and the promotion of inclusivity and accessibility in IP filing. With IP Safe as an innovative platform, the University community will learn how to file their IPs through the system’s features with a built-in communication interface, ensuring a more guided, efficient, unified, and hassle-free process. Users can also monitor and track the progress of their IP filings through the system to guarantee transparency, clarity, and empowerment throughout the entire process. Consequently, it will provide the University with a centralized and comprehensive archiving and knowledge repository system where all registered IPs can be efficiently stored, managed, and accessed by colleagues, external stakeholders, and potential partners.

“Guided by the SMARTest vision of our University President, the RDET Unit remains steadfast in upholding and advancing this direction. We will continue to refine, expand, and innovate our systems to better support the creative and scholarly works of our faculty researchers, extensionists, and all knowledge producers within our academic community,” Dr. Orlando F. Balderama (Vice President for Research and Development, Extension and Training) accentuated in his welcome message.

Moreover, Dr. Jennelyn L. Raymundo (University KTM Director) presented the rationale and objectives of the activity and underscored the need for the creation of user accounts, IP registration and monitoring through the innovative system, and building an accessible IP portfolio to strengthen the University’s innovation and IP landscape.

In conclusion, Dr. Eva U. Cammayo (IPTBM Section Chief), emphasized, “May the innovative platform give you confidence that the University stands ready to support your work, from ideation to publication, from prototype to patent.”

With the conduct of the event, the efforts of faculty and staff, researchers, extensionists, and students contribute to the achievement and strengthen the University’s digitalization capacity to remain relevant, responsive, and future-ready to advance innovative systems in managing its knowledge products and technologies.

NOTE: For those who were not able to participate in this activity, we encourage everyone to scan the QR code in the photo to access a video tutorial on how IP Safe works. This guide will assist faculty members, staff, and students in using the system for the registration of their IPs, and will also help external stakeholders navigate the University’s IP portfolio and innovation network.
