The Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement Program in Cagayan Valley (RAISE-CV), with Isabela State University (ISU), spearheaded a two-day Mentoring and Writeshop for ISU System Technology Generators on August 19–20, 2025 at the Climate Change Center in ISU Echague, Isabela.

The said event aims to strengthen the capacity of ISU’s technology developers and researchers in navigating the processes of product development, intellectual property (IP) management, and commercialization. Participants will be oriented on critical frameworks and tools essential to advancing innovations generated within the University system toward market readiness.

One of the major highlights of the activity was the signing of Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) between ISU and several institutional partners, namely the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PhilEXPORT), Quirino State University (QSU), the Cagayan Valley Region Ranchers Association (CAVRRA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These partnerships showed ISU’s commitment to strengthening its innovation ecosystem and expanding its linkages for the successful commercialization of research outputs.

The two-day event featured a series of technical lectures delivered by expert faculty from the ISU Echague Campus namely Dr. Jonathan N. Nayga (Professor VI and Program Leader of RAISE-CV), Dr. Aubrey Joy M. Balbin (Associate Professor II), and Dr. Eva U. Cammayo (Professor III).

Topics discussed included: Product Development, Technology Readiness Level (TRL), Importance of IP and IP Assets, IP Life Cycle, Value Curve, IP SWOT Analysis, and Porter’s Five Forces, Market Research Importance – TAM-SAM-SOM – Defining the Market, and The Commercialization Journey.

The second day of the training will witness the creation and oathtaking of the new officers and members of the Filipino Inventors Society, Inc. – Isabela Chapter. The activity will be facilitated by Dr. Ronald P. Pasanghan (President, FISI National Chapter).

Through this initiative, the RAISE Program and ISU continue to foster a culture of innovation, while equipping local researchers and inventors with the necessary knowledge and competencies to commercialize technologies that address the needs of the agriculture and aquaculture sectors in the Cagayan Valley Region.
