Isabela State University (ISU) welcomed the delegation from Marinduque State University (MarSU) for a benchmarking activity on February 19, 2025 at the Conference Hall of the ISU College of Medicine and Allied Health Professions (COM & AHP), ISU Echague. The benchmarking is consistent with the goal of MarSU to sustain excellence in the pursuit of internationalization.

The delegation from MarSU is headed by Assoc. Prof. Marvin P. Plata (MarSU Vice President, Student Affairs and Services), accompanied by Maria Joan C. Ocampo (Head, OVPSAS Foreign/International Students Services Office), Asst. Prof. Jholey Rose L. Lancion (Head, International Relations Office), Hon. Nolasco P. Revilla (Student Regent), and John Carlo B. Mogol (Assistant to the Dean, Administrative Concerns).

They were welcomed by Dr. Jose P. Gallena, Jr. (Cluster Executive Officer, ISU Echague Campus), expressing that the University is humbled to receive them. He hoped that the benchmarking engagement will lead to more partnerships that will reap global development.

During the benchmarking proper, ISU shared its best practices in terms of internationalization and its student programs, specifically, for the Doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In addition, MarSU also gained insights on the University’s organizational structure as part of their transition as a newly-converted State University.

In his message on behalf of the University President, Dr. Boyet L. Batang (Vice President, Academic Affairs) reminded that benchmarking is not just about comparing performance but also involves the challenge of rising above current limits and discovering new possibilities.

“By this benchmarking activity, it enhances the opportunity to learn, innovation, and of course, to adapt. With every measure of success we are building a foundation for an even better success and therefore let each milestone inspire us to push forward, knowing that progress is not just a destination but of course, the momentum that drives us toward the fullest potential,” Dr. Batang said.

Assoc. Prof. Plata also addressed the attendees of the activity, citing that they will only be able to learn by engaging with other institutions outside of their university.

Alam ko pong we have our own challenges and our common wins and it’s better that we are able to share it with one another. We cooperate when we are competing. At the end of the day, our goal is for the betterment of our students,” Assoc. Prof. Plata added.
