Isabela State University (ISU) welcomed representatives from Kalinga State University (KSU) on April 11, 2024 for a benchmarking program on the University’s College of Medicine and Allied Health Professions (COM & AHP) Program. The KSU delegation was received by ISU officials represented by Dr. Marinel P. Dayawon (University Director, Instruction) on behalf of Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino (University President).
A highlight of the benchmarking program includes the showcase of a video presentation detailing the journey of the ISU COM & AHP from its inception to establishment – which was also submitted to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).
To also conduct in-depth discussions on the specifics of the ISU COM & AHP Program, several roundtable discussions on various topics were held between the ISU and KSU delegation to ensure the exchange of ideas and best practices. Topics and speakers of the roundtable discussions include:
- Faculty Qualification – Prof. Generaldo D. Maylem, MD
- Curriculum Design and Implementation – Prof. Marites M. Butaran, MD
- Clinical and Laboratory Facilities – Assoc. Prof. Aries S. Garin, MD
- Student Support Services – Assoc. Prof. Rheinland Joel M. Biscaro, MD
- Collaboration with Healthcare Institutions – Assoc. Prof. Aaron James I. Gumpal, MD
- Community Extension – Prof. Jason T. Suquila, MD and Assoc. Prof. Jeannette R. Abella, MD
Discussions on Financial Workplan and Secretariat were held along with the Physical Plan and Waste Management Tour through Engr. Eugene Clark P. Bautista.
