In its continued mission to strengthen its internationalization efforts, Isabela State University (ISU) is among the nine (9) Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) who are present in the British Columbia International Education Week (BCIEW) and Institutional Meetings and Visits from June 21-30, 2025 in Whistler and Vancouver, Canada.
The BCIEW 2025, led by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines, the British Columbia Council for International Education, and the Alberta Bureau for International Education, is a conference designed to celebrate and promote international education in British Columbia through a series of engaging discussions, networking opportunities and Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings.

Represented by Dr. Isagani P. Angeles, Jr. (Vice President for Planning and Development), ISU is currently able to join various discussion sessions and build networks for the benefit of the University stepping onto the global stage through bold and purposeful transnational higher education initiatives.
ISU’s and the Philippine delegation’s participation in this year’s BCIEW strengthens the ongoing collaboration between HEIs in the Philippines and British Columbia, Canada, while advancing exploratory talks aimed at forging mutually beneficial transnational higher education partnerships.
On June 23, the BCIEW hosted a Philippine Session highlighting existing partnerships and transnational higher education (TNHE) initiatives between the Philippines and Canada. The session was anchored on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and British Columbia’s Ministry of Post-Secondary and Future Skills (PSFS), reflecting shared priorities with the Philippine government in upskilling and reskilling the workforce, and in advancing the quality of higher education, training, and research to produce globally competitive graduates.
ISU participated in the said session by delivering a presentation titled, “Crossing Borders, Building Futures: Advancing ISU’s Global Impact through Transnational Higher Education and Internationalization”. The presentation highlighted the University’s accomplishments and best practices in its internationalization initiatives, along with its ongoing partnerships with institutions across the world.
On the sidelines of the BCIEW Conference, CHED and the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines will facilitate institutional visits to Vancouver, with an optional visit to Calgary, Alberta, on June 26 to 27, 2025. These visits aim to provide PHEIs with opportunities to explore potential collaborations with HEIs based in Vancouver and Alberta.
