A dedicated team of health researchers from the Isabela State University (ISU) has bannered the University’s pride in the 2023 Annual Health Research Forum (AHRF) hosted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 02 – Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC).
The event, held under the theme of “Revolutionizing Healthcare through Research: Harnessing the Power of Technology for Smarter Health and Sustainable Communities,” unfolded at Mango Suite in Cauayan City, Isabela last December 18-19, 2023.
ISU student and faculty researchers showcased their commitment to fostering innovative solutions and contributing to the progress of healthcare.
With a focus on “Smart Health” and “Sustainable Communities,” the participants explored the transformative potential of technology in enhancing healthcare delivery. The event featured keynote speakers array of plenary sessions and interactive workshops focused on the presentations of SMART City and the Artificial Intelligence.
A standout feature of this year’s AHRF program exhibited higher education institutions and health facility agencies competitions consisting of oral, digital poster research contest and the 3-minute pitch to policymakers’ competition, which showcased the innovative work of both professionals and students.
ISU’s entry entitled “𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗗-𝟭𝟵 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗦𝗨-𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀”, authored by Godofredo Pabon III, Arlyn Joy Mingoa, Lena Janelle Llames, Claire Ann Lopez, Desiree Molina, and Jewel Ualat, with their research adviser, Mr. Markhipolito P. Galingana, RN, MAN, was hailed as a regional finalist in the Digital Poster Presentation Student Category.
Another finalist in the same category was “𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲, 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮,” authored by Dyrel Apostol, Icylie Baquiran, Patrisha Marianne Bello, Abegail Bilog, Clarence Blanco, and Westlee Calangan with their research adviser, Mr. Jaime P. Gabriel Jr. RN, LPT.
Meanwhile, the research study entitled “𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 – 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀: 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺,” authored by Laarnie Saet, Joyce Silisipan, Junelie Tapaoan, Karl Vincent Uy, and Vea Verdadero with their research adviser, Mrs. Rikka Klaire Galingana, RN, MSN, was also selected as regional finalist under the Oral Research Paper Presentation Student Category.
This research study also received the People’s Choice Award in the said health research symposium.
Dr. Ralliegh F. Vizcarra from ISU-CBAPA Echague with his research entitled “Biosafety and Biosecurity Management Practices Among Medical Diagnostic Laboratories in the Three Cities of Isabela: Basis for Proposed Work Instruction “, currently as co-chair of CVHRDC Research Ethic Committee (REC), as regional finalist bagged as BEST PRESENTER ( Third Place ) in this year’s 3-minute pitch to policymakers’ research competition.
Cognizant with this active engagement of student and faculty researchers in this AHRF program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of fostering quality education (Goal 4) and (Goal 3), promoting good health and well-being. This involvement contributes to the dissemination of knowledge and the advancement of expertise in regional delivery of healthcare.
ISU’s Health Research inspiration and partnerships were ignited in the annual event of the consortium towards invigorating the Health Research and Development in Cagayan Valley in overcoming healthcare challenges through innovation, collaboration, and a steadfast vision for a tomorrow marked by improved health and sustainability.
