Isabela State University’s campus extension directors and staff convened on Wednesday, June 18, to chart a new course for the University’s extension and community empowerment initiatives.

Spearheaded by the newly designated University Director for Extension and Training Services, Dr. Ferdinand Bulusan, the meeting was held at the CVAARRD Conference Hall at the ISU Echague Campus.

The high-level convergence focused on aligning all future programs, projects, and activities with the vision of the new ISU administration led by President Boyet L. Batang toward achieving a “Smart-Green University for positive community transformation.”

Included in the discussion were plans about sustainable capability empowerment initiatives, recalibration of operational processes and manuals, and preparatory works for a comprehensive target-setting workshop for the entire unit.

A central part of the discussion involved the presentation of the first-quarter accomplishments and the introduction of new extension indicators resulting from emerging drivers of institutional development.

These new metrics are designed to rigorously measure the impact of extension work, directly supporting ISU’s aspiration to achieve a SUC Level V status.

The meeting also served as a critical diagnostic session, where participants identified existing bottlenecks and challenges in program management and monitoring. Dr. Bulusan led the discussion to pinpoint immediate, actionable solutions to these issues.

Under its new direction, the University’s Extension and Training under the wing of the VP for RDET, Dr. Orlando F. Balderama, is expected to prioritize refining its processes to ensure the seamless implementation of  all projects.

The group believes that this move reinforces ISU’s commitment to impactful and effective community service.
