
Isabela State University (ISU) conducts the 3rd Phase of the Capacity Building on University Research Futures Thinking and Foresight at the 3K Hotel and Restaurant on January 15-17, 2025. The event aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of advanced research methodologies and strategies to foster a culture of innovation and foresight within the University community.
The event began with a recap of Phases 1 and 2 to provide an overview of the progress made and prepare for the discussions and activities that will follow.
Throughout the three-day event, participants engaged in several module discussions facilitated by several resource speakers which included: Enhancing the Research Through the Value of the Sustainable Development Goals (Facilitator: Paulette M. Hernandez), Moonshots (Facilitator: Raul G. Roldan), Backcasting (Facilitator: Raul G. Roldan), and Detailing the Research Proposal (Facilitator: Godofredo T. Villapando Jr.)
Part of the event highlights is the presentation of research proposal outputs, detailing the participants’ newly-developed ideas and strategies. The presentation session served as a platform for collaboration, feedback, and refinement of research initiatives.
In his message, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino (University President), represented by Dr. Jay P. Chy (Vice President, Planning and Development), encouraged the participants to immerse themselves in both theoretical knowledge and practical application.
“As we start this important day, let us remember that our work extends beyond the confines of our institutions. The insights and outcomes we produce here have the potential to contribute to the broader community and address pressing challenges faced by our nation and the world,” Dr. Chy read.
The insights and outputs generated during the event are expected to contribute to the University’s efforts to address local and global challenges through forward-looking academic endeavors.
