Isabela State University (ISU) and The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) had a planning meeting today to discuss possible cooperation activities in training and development, capacity building, and research and development.
The meeting focused on both institutions’ mission of strengthening disaster preparedness and sustainable development through education, innovation, and community engagement.
Representing ISU were Dr. Boyet L. Batang (University President), Dr. Orlando F. Balderama (Vice President for Research and Development, Extension and Training), and Dr. Precila C. Delima (Vice President for Academic Affairs). They were received by Usec. Harold N. Cabreros (Administrator of the OCD and Executive Director of the NDRRMC), who is also a long-time partner of the University for Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CCA-DRRM) initiatives.
Anchored on its mandate to coordinate the activities of government agencies, private institutions, and civic organizations for public welfare, the OCD supervises, monitors, and evaluates disaster management programs to ensure their effectiveness.
In line with this, ISU is committed to contribute its expertise in research, academic instruction, and community service, further strengthening its role as a partner in advancing DRRM and building resilient communities across the region.
