The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) visited Isabela State University (ISU) for an Onsite Monitoring and Evaluation of the CHED Funded Institutional Grants and Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IG-DIG) Projects on July 10-11, 2024 at the ISU Echague Campus.

The IG-DIG are awarded to higher education institutions (HEIs) to fund initiatives that strengthen their qualifications and capacity to respond and remain relevant to local, regional, national, and global priorities. This is part of the CHED K to 12 Transition Program, which aims to utilize the period of transition to the K to 12 basic education curriculum to similarly upgrade Philippine higher education.

The IG-DIG seeks to strengthen the role of HEIs as providers of quality education, as well as catalysts for positive change. Projects under the grants must respond and contribute to the following thrusts: nationalism, inclusive growth and sustainable development, and global competitiveness.

Three (3) projects from the University were presented by its respective project teams which were then monitored and evaluated by CHED headed by Dr. Almacita P. Abrigo (CHED Education Specialist) which include:

  • Project Team 1: Establishment of Regional Training Center for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Data and Business Analytics
  • Project Team 2: Ensuring Quality Environmental Education and Enhanced Learning Outcomes through Upgrading of Technical and Scientific Capacity
  • Project Team 3: ISU Geomatics for Sustainable Development Center

An exit meeting was also conducted to wrap up and finalize the deliberations and to also hear responses from both institutions involved in the event.
