Bikes 4 ISUans | Travelling around the premises of Isabela State University Echague Main Campus is now made easier as transport bikes will be available to every ISUan this year.
The procurement of 100 bikes has been made possible through the Congressional budget insertion introduced by Sen. Pia Cayetano to ISU’s General Appropriations in support of new line items including SUC operations in the new normal.
The transport bikes can be accessed from designated bike stations from the campus’ main gate and the colleges, allowing a readily accessible transport every time a student is in need of it. The Campus will set a system for bike utilization to monitor and maximize the access of every user.
Aside from providing a comfortable ride in touring various destinations within the campus, the distribution of bikes also aims to relieve transportation expenses.
The Campus earlier this year conducted series of dialogue with the Local Government of Echague for the provision of at least 5 electric bikes that would be used for cleaner and more affordable mass transportation services within the campus.
Said measures are viewed by the University to be promising steps in building a climate-friendly zone, targeting zero-carbon efforts, and encouraging the use of climate-friendly transport.
University President Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino said in an interview that he looks to a promising expansion of similar initiatives in fostering climate-friendly campuses for the entire ISU community. (GZ/JF-UMIS-CMS)
