Isabela State University (ISU) is committed to promoting gender equality, gender equity, gender sensitivity, non-discrimination, and human rights in the provision of basic education and professionalism. In particular, the University strongly upholds the values of gender equality and are committed to eradicating all forms of discrimination, specifically those based on gender, in every aspect of university life.

Pursuant to the Republic Act No. 9710, otherwise known as the Magna Carta of Women (MCW), Section 3 provides that “All individuals are equal as human beings by virtue of the inherent dignity of each human person. No one should therefore suffer discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, gender, age, language, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, political or other opinion, national, social or geographical origin, disability, property, birth, or other status as established by human rights standards.”

In connection thereto, this policy reminds everyone to respect the gender expression and gender identity – which includes transgender people, cisgender, and non-binary identities – not only the faculty and staff but especially the students.

In line with the foregoing, heads, administration, and all university personnel are hereby advised to observe non-discriminatory action and the usage of gender-fair language to lessen the discrimination on the campus.
