ECHAGUE, Isabela— Provincial Government of Isabela would be collaborating on ISU’s partnership with Baurtek Corp and Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in the production and processing of herb commodities.

Isabela Governor Rodito Albano, thru Provincial Administrator Atty. Noel Lopez, signified interest in said partnership, as they sat with University President Dr. Ricmar Aquino and ISU R&D team, in a teleconference with Bauertek founder Dr. Richard Gomez, this morning (Feb 12).

The Capitol viewed Bauertek’s sourcing-out of raw materials- as means of providing alternative crops to farmers that would enforce rice and corn production in the province.

Atty. Lopez has expressed, the alternative farming would bring additional economic viability to Isabelino farmers.

ISU has allocated initial 10-hectare area of the University’s main campus for the malunggay plantation. This is said to be expanded as market demand would increase, assures Dr. Gomez.

A separate plantation for Turmeric is set for the next move, as it is the primary commodity that would be upscaled in the global market.

Both parties look forward in signing agreement to formalize partnership.

Bauertek Corp. is the first Filipino-owned pharmaceutical firm, manufacturing herbal supplements that aid treatment of various diseases. The herb company has officially established partnership with the University and DOST earlier this January.
