Associate Professor Dr. Ferdinand Bulusan (Faculty Member, ISU Echague – College of Education and University Extension Director) has been chosen as part of a National Technical Working Group (TWG) tasked with reframing the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in English curriculum.
Dr. Bulusan was among the eight (8) academicians across the country who attended the writeshop for the BSEd English curriculum held in Manila on August 18–20, 2025.
A former State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Vice President and a holder of a PhD in English Language Education, Dr. Bulusan worked alongside other English language and literature experts representing teacher education centers of excellence in the Philippines. The group collectively developed the proposed revisions to the BSEd curriculum framework, program outcomes, and course offerings, including detailed course descriptions.
Their output is expected to supersede the existing Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order (CMO) 75, series of 2017, after undergoing a series of consultations and enhancement writeshops in the succeeding months.
The reframing workshop, which also involved other specialization groups for BSEd majors, was spearheaded by CHED in partnership with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) and the Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ).
Dr. Bulusan’s participation in this national policy-making initiative is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening teacher education programs, benefitting not only the University’s College of Education but also the wider Teacher Education community across the country.
