Isabela State University (ISU) received the delegation from Mountain Province State University (MPSU) for a benchmarking session at the Alba Hall on January 21, 2025. The benchmarking covered activities and practices of the Internal Audit Services (IAS) of both Universities
The MPSU delegation was welcomed by Dr. Jose P. Gallena, Jr. (Executive Officer, ISU Echague), citing that ISU is becoming a center of benchmarking in the region. He also highlighted the importance of such activities to continue learning and improve the quality of services.
As part of the benchmarking proper, the Internal Audit Charter and the Internal Audit Approach of the University were presented and shared by Marites B. Alejandro (University Director, IAS) and Arnulfo F. Altovar (Internal Auditor II, IAS), respectively, to the delegates from MPSU.
Expressing his support to the activity, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino (University President) highlighted that the said benchmarking marked a valuable opportunity for collaboration for both Universities. He also thanked MPSU for trusting ISU as their partner, providing opportunities to learn more from each other and become more efficient and effective in institutional operations.
“At our University, we believe that a robust internal audit system serves as the proponent of effective resource utilization…that our systems and processes align with our and the needs of our stakeholders,” Dr. Aquino said.
In the same manner, Gabriel T. Sawate (Internal Auditor III, MPSU) expressed his gratitude to ISU on behalf of their University President, Dr. Edgar G. Cue. He reflected on the importance of gaining valuable insights, enhancing operational clarity, and promoting high standards of quality and integrity through the benchmarking.
“Our goal is not just to always bring efficiency but to explore ideas and processes that will benefit all our institutions and our services. Together, we can create a University that embodies excellence and serves as a beacon for others to follow along,” Mr. Sawate shared.
