Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino (University President) and Christian Lloyd D. Taguba (Faculty Member, Echague Campus) of Isabela State University (ISU) were nominated and awarded as recipients of the 2024 Outstanding Club for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Educators Award.
Dr. Aquino and Mr. Taguba were selected under the University President Category and Educator Category respectively. Both were chosen among fifty-five (55) applicants who submitted their credentials based on innovative programs within their communities and school.
Each year, the National Coordinating Body of Clubs for UNESCO in the Philippines acknowledges outstanding youth leaders, young professionals, educators, cultural workers, frontliners, and public servants for their contributions and influence in their respective institutions and communities.
Dr. Aquino and Mr. Taguba were selected in accordance with the aims and objectives of the said search:
- Acknowledge the accomplishments and undertakings of the Club for UNESCO Educators that endeavored to pursue the principles of UNESCO;
- Invigorate other youth organizations, LGU’s, NGO’s and school-based organizations about the attributes of a Club for UNESCO Educator that exceptionally exemplify the standards compliant with the values and principles of UNESCO in promoting cultural diversity and contributing to peace and human development;
- Appreciate the exemplary pioneering initiatives and noble struggles of the leaders who have contributed to advancing the direction of UNESCO; and
- Educate the general public about everyday examples of achieving UNESCO’s objectives which thereby advance community empowerment toward development.
The awarding ceremony will be held at the 2024 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U) on December 1, 2024 at the City State Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
