In response to the national government’s goal to strengthen quality assurance in the delivery of instruction as stipulated in the CHED Roadmap, ISU has continuously undertaken measures in its aim to provide quality and relevant education.

Accreditation of all Programs

            ISU is constantly subjecting its program offerings to AACCUP accreditation. Continuous accreditation of program offerings has spun improvements in the level of these programs. AACCUP accreditation in 2015 resulted in 86 out of 109 accredited programs, 72 of which are programs in higher education and 14 are in advanced education.

             However, because of the increasing number of enrolees, there was an increase in the number of program offerings in the University that resulted to 113. As of July, 2016, the accredited programs totalled to 85 due to the phased out program which is Ph.D in Institutional Development Management.

Increased COD of University Programs
As proof of academic excellence, two more program offerings have been awarded Center of Development, bringing to five the number of ISU programs granted with this recognition. As of 2016, the following are the CODs in ISU.

ISO 9001: 2008 Certified: Retained Status on First Surveillance Visit
After it was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Certification by TUVSUD, the ISU has to subject itself to annual surveillance visits. In February 2015, ISU Echague successfully passed the rigors of the 1st Surveillance Audit, thereby maintaining its ISO international certification.
The surveillance audit covered the management processes, instruction and related operations and support services involved in the provision of instruction for higher and advanced education for the six colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Agriculture, the College of Business Accountancy and Public Administration, College of Engineering, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Institute of Information Communication Technology. On February 1 - 2, 2016, ISO 9001:2008 maintained its certification as of the 2nd Surveillance Audit with two major positive aspects: Management (receiving numerous awards from giving bodies) and Compliance on previous findings and recommendations.
Meanwhile, other campuses are in progress for internal quality audit.

Adoption of Outcome- Based approach to Education
In keeping with CHED Memorandum Order No. 46 s. 2012, Policy Standards to enhance Quality Assurance in Philippine Higher Education through Outcome-based and Typology-based Quality Assurance, we had conducted series of seminar-workshops in the entire University system on the rudiments of outcomes-based education. The faculty were required to work on their respective syllabi during the workshops. OBE was expanded to the use of standard Grading System, e-Table of Specifications, e-Class Record, e-Grade Sheet, Transmutation Table and e-Syllabus. To this day, OBE is now a by-word in the University, a sign that it has gained momentum in its implementation.

Delivering Higher Education Institution (DHEI) in Graduate Programs
The Commission on Higher Education identified Isabela State University to be a Delivering Higher Education Institution (DHEI) in both masters and doctorate programs consistent with CHED Memorandum Order No. 8, Series of 2016. The graduate programs will accept faculty members from public and private schools to increase their competencies to teach their specializations.

Establishment of University Assessment Center

The ISU Competency Assessment Center was established to cater the following competencies:

  • Horticulture NC II (College of Agriculture)
  • Animal Production NC II (College of Agriculture)
  • Agricultural Crops Production NC III (College of Agriculture)
  • Food Processing NC II (College of Teacher Education)
  • Training of Faculty for TVET Program

There were 18 faculty from the main campus who were trained for the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programs. They came from the College of Business, Accountancy and Public Administration for Book Keeping NC II; Institute of Information and Communication Technology for Computer System Servicing; and from the College of Agriculture for Horticulture NC II, Animal Production NC II, and Agricultural Crops Production NC II.
